My apologies for the delay in posting for those of you dedicated fans who still check this website, I’ve been hesitant to post yet another dissapointing, media-less post for you to read, tut your heads and wonder what on earth is going on.

Don’t worry! Behind the scenes our keyboards and mice are still tapping away trying to bring Raccoon City to YOU! What do we have planned? Well.

First Of all. Have you noticed how incredibly similiar Raccoon City looks to NoMercy? Its uncanny! Raccoon City is a lovely place, filled with ornate buildings and structures, yet there are only so many times we can use l4d urban building textures! Its also raining! Well we DID say the city is raining blood, but this is not the reason, the lack of atmosphere pushed me into a func_precipitation nightmare, In which I’ve very lazyily added the rain, simply because It was BORING.

The lack of atmosphere was a problem, and this too is being upgraded, new skybox, no rain, Newer textures and buckets of models to create an authentic Raccoon City look. Even creepy sound effects, crows, howling wind and the sound of Raccoon city slowing burning to the ground.

Secondly:

We’ve put about a weeks worth of work into the RPD to get it looking totally even more awesome for this new trailer we are going on about. It’s looking even more perfect each time we add something to it.We think you will really enjoy the updated look.

Thirdly:

Our Sewers are about at a closing point, We too will be showing this wonderful place off to you soon, and YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE EXCITED ABOUT IT! Capcom Did not do a faithful re-creation of the Sewers in Darkside chronicles, they missed out our favourite parts, and butchered others. Have you always wanted to see that underground cave / canyon with the cable car in 3D? Of course! It’s still in development, but You will be spending some time there while you wait for something…After all Leon and Claire used it, so unfortunatley, its all the way over the other side! Track through the marshalling yard and find your way to the factory, which we are also working on a new skybox for, we cant go on using no mercy houses for ever :P

Fourthly:

We are having fun testing the finale for the campaign too. Its no secret as to where it is, if its not in a trainstation I would expect RAGE, so It is, but what you have to do, and how and why will force teams to come up with a good strategy and also offer a bit of a mixed up play for VS.

Finally:

There is more on the way, I believe a newer artistic render of the campaign poster is being developed, and also some excessive amount of time spent in ZBrush, by one of our team members,  for hmm…Well Lets find out later shall we? We also have some more sounds in the mix and hope to get those included into the trailer, or simply for you to listen to.

So keep faith, we might not talk a lot about it, more makey, less talkey. We are trying to get a faithfull RE-creation of a beloved city and bring it to you as soon as we can! As always, If you think you can help out in anyway, don’t hesitate to send us an email on the Join us page!

Thanks for reading!

I got tired of posting on this site as its gona be years till this will be released plus i see the campaign face the same faith that dead before dawn faced and the mod never even finished the damn map thats how people have given up on this game in general…

There is so many garbage maps out there it makes it not worth playing custom content for this game. more mods have to make more quality mods so stuff actually stands out

I am a major fan of this mod and still have big faith with i could help some how,

Heres hoping for a 2010 release.

Comparing us to DBD is not the greatest comparison, If you look closely you will see DBD for how it is, and find your own problems, being that it had 4 maps and was notouriously buggy and wouldnt work 50% of the time. They made 4 maps, in 4 years. We are trying to make 6 in one year.

With regards to any comments about it “taking too long”, we work on it in our spare time and try to make it the best as we possibly can, you dont want to be playing another dissapointing campaign. So if you can keep faith, we have a few things in the pipeline, and if this fails to take off, I”ll keep you in mind for an additional beta tester in a private game.

If after that, you are dissapointed or simply didnt enjoy it, it will relieve you from this waiting game and you can move onto tracking other campaigns.

Zac-UK, you’re just blowing smoke out of your own ass. DBD’s maps didn’t take 4 years to make. Just the one of the mall took that long and that’s because it was made for another mod. The reason the mod was so buggy is because the VPK system is fucked and doesnt support such a large amount of custom content. I myself have tried to help those guys out to get the VPK working but it crashes after any of the maps load. Without the VPk system and the additional 3gb of files used to create this mod, the mod runs flawless and that’s why they never picked up any of the errors. They have also stated this on the l4dmods site and also with an interview with pc gamer and also on moddb i think. stop being so full of yourself and talking about stuff you have no knowledege about.

Bioh4zard2 does look good and I hope if you guys start using more custom stuff, you dont run into the same problem that the DBD guys have.

DBD guys have been working on workarounds and have fixed almost all the bugs. Something about releasing multiple VPK files is what I heard last.

Anyway, rant over. It just pisses me off when everyone just jumps on the bandwagon against these guys. Best of luck

Oh and before I leave. You do know that Valve ALSO playtested the campaign? I dont know if they received any problems, but now, in Left 4 Dead 2, there’s a mall campaign, there’s also the mini missions that DBD had first (get the beer missions) and to top it off, they even took the finale idea from DBD. Given, it’s not exactly the same, but very similar. In the DBD finale (which wasnt released) players needed to collect “items” during the finale to fix their escape vehicles. Fuel, Tyres and a battery for the van. Think its quite a slap in the face from Valve to them. OK OK, rant over.

No.

No Smoke without fire. When the author released the half working campaign, bugs which should have been fixed and playtested from day 1. Simple issues, nothing to do with the filesize. Its like, You get hordes in the safe room, this should have been fixed. Darth Brush has no idea how to use nav_blockers and because of this, i end up with so many frickin zombies stuck in doors that you cant open. His manual boss spawns and special infected spawns are a retarded solution to spawning zombies, as well as his “fake hordes” too.

There is some things that you should do, and some things you shouldnt. DBD went ahead and almost every one. 4 Years or not, there is no excuse for the hundreds of bugs and issues, stupid design implimentations and general buggy’ness of the entire map, It is the worse campaign I have ever seen and I’m not the only one. I would have raged about this on its release date, but I wasnt the only one who thought that.

The only people DBD fools, is the “standard gamers” - ones who do not know what is right and wrong. Ones who dont notice major flaws. A campaign should cater to a wide audience of players, not expect all your players to be so feckin blind that they will love it just because of 4 years of waiting it is finally here, no matter how crappy it is.

Regarding to myself having no knowledge about L4D level design / construction, thats your opinion, and you havent seen anything I’ve created in action, so dont blow smoke out of your ass there.

So, will this campaign still for L4D, only for L4D2 or maybe even both? I don’t get any clue from this or any previous news…

Its a good question, and yes I’ve been avoiding answering this. I’m waiting for further news on the so called “complete l4d2 SDK” to test out some of the director scripting and so called “new weapon support”

But its in a state where we can quickly roll back to L4D1 if we wanted to and we hope to know for sure either way, but we will have further news on it and also some insight into the reasons behind it & what each game has to offer.

Don’t worry, When we finalize our reason, it will be justified. If you’ve heard anything from the L4Dmailing list its that the current state of L4D1 is horridly broken and buggy for finalizing vpk campaigns. Theres all kind of critters living in it.
